Role overview

We are looking for a Strategy Director to join our team in London in the Fashion and Lifestyle Brands department. Reporting to the Head of Strategy, you will focus on fashion and lifestyle brands, improve the brand strategic thinking and output on a portfolio of the agency's accounts, and be a true partner for the business lead while driving the management and growth of accounts. You will take non-account-based responsibilities across the agency and contribute to wider industry thinking on how fashion and lifestyle brands can most effectively grow through communications.


As a Strategy Director at Engine Creative , you will:

  • Lead the brand strategy across a portfolio of the agency's most important accounts. Partner with the client lead to manage client growth.
  • Write briefs for and evaluate the work across a range of communications disciplines as the lead brand strategist. Manage the strategy process across a range of skills and agencies.
  • Draw upon multiple frameworks, techniques and experiences to solve complex business problems. Develop new models where no effective model exists.
  • Be a trusted advisor to C-suite clients and at C-suite within the agency.
  • Represent agency externally with expertise and specialist skills - be the desired speaker or contributor at industry events. Have external industry connections and be seen as a thought-leader for the agency.
  • Lead large pitches.
  • Be a leader that is comfortable with representing the agency at the highest levels internally and externally.


You will bring:

  • Experience with brands and brand strategy: you understand how brands and communications work to influence decisions and influence our performance. You are well versed in the components of powerful brands and can guide internal and external teams in how to define, design and deliver them to their full commercial potential.
  • Fashion and Lifestyle expertise: You are connected to culture, understand, and have experience of the world of design/fashion/lifestyle brands and their communications. You're especially well versed in fashion retailing, are interested in emerging issues, opportunities and channels in this sector and have a point of view and ability to navigate clients through the dynamic landscape towards commercial success. You understand how to create desire for such brands and how to best use a suite of communications to do so.
  • Clarity of strategic thought: You are a trusted strategic advisor, inputting into clients' future planning, lead brand strategy on a pitch and being the go-to person on a piece of business to help solve strategic problems.
  • Experience applying data to the creative process: You will discuss the role of data in communications, analyse and draw conclusions from diverse data sets and understand how to brief and work with data specialists to solve complicated problems.
  • A passion for proving our work works: You are regarded by clients as a leading voice on the effectiveness of campaigns and can guide decisions to the most effective work (measurement frameworks). You author papers on this (eg. APG, IPA).
