The role – Senior Research Consultant 

As a Senior Research Consultant you will be responsible for driving forward the Engine Transformation research approach, demonstrating best practice qualitative and quantitative techniques and providing clients with answers to critical strategic and business questions.

 

Key responsibilities:

Delivery

  • Lead consultant on client projects, working independently and as part of a bigger delivery team for research programmes
  • Lead management of all aspects of the projects from client and supplier partner engagement to development and delivery of insights
  • Oversee internal Technical and Data Science teams to ensure smooth running at each stage
  • Collaborate with client local market teams to onboard and implement fieldwork
  • Working with senior client decision makers to ensure our work helps deliver their ambitions
  • Ensure smooth delivery of projects, including risk management, project reporting, budget management, meeting deadlines etc.
  • Setting standards for delivery and embedding quality within the team
  • Working across complex methodologies and techniques
  • Creating positive, collaborative relationships with other Engine and Engine Transformation delivery teams

Research & Insight 

  • Delivering leading research solutions across Customer Experience, Market Research, User Research, Inclusive Design, Government/Social Research and Business Insights
  • Working with complex data sets to create compelling stories, aligning insights with client context and making valuable recommendations 
  • Delivering strategic insight across a range of topics and research methodologies
  • Developing thought leadership 
  • Providing research expertise to wider-Engine propositions
  • Delivering client debrief / Client presentations

General

  • Strong knowledge and experience of latest qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, tools, and techniques
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships remotely and manage proactively whilst following robust plans
  • Strong project management skills and experience, detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication - can express ideas clearly and simply
  • Excellent business acumen, understanding of business goals, strategies and priorities while being aware of industry trends
  • Client facing role with expectation of travel to meet with clients

Growth 

  • Supporting new and existing sales through inputting into proposals and pitch presentation
  • Supporting account development within existing projects/accounts, identifying new opportunities for ET Research and wider ET propositions
  • Helping drive positive change including areas where Engine Transformation could add value to wider Engine business
  • Providing research expertise to wider Engine new business efforts

Essential Experience 

  • Research skills, techniques and methodologies, including ability to draft and script surveys, interviewing techniques, ethnographic research etc.
  • Experience conducting research globally, across culture and languages and engaging with local market teams
  • Knowledge and understanding of research tools including (but not limited to) Survey Gizmo, Dapresy, SSPS, Q
  • Excellent client relationship management skills
  • Experience in presenting research, reports and project deliverables to clients
  • Excellent analytical and insight skills
  • Growth mentality 
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work positively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • A passion for customer-centred delivery
  • Experience in managing project budgets and commercials
  • Desire to continue to improve and evolve skills and understanding in this space

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years experience in research industry
  • Previous research experience in the Retail and Financial Services sectors would be beneficial
  • Understanding of employee research and business insights
  • A passion for mentoring others
  • Awareness of Agile project management methodology
