Business Development Manager (14 Months fixed term contract)

Start date October 2021. This role can be based out of either our Manchester or London offices, we work flexibly with some time in the office and the rest remote.

The role

Responsible for identifying, developing, and converting new opportunities for Engine Transformation.

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving forward Engine Transformation’s business, meeting and building relationships with current and potential clients, reviewing, and responding to incoming opportunities and developing and maintaining a network of potential contacts and key business targets. You will also be responsible for the development of internal sales networks, training and knowledge sharing.

As a senior member of the team, you will be a role model and key conductor of team spirit and culture of collaboration.

Key responsibilities:

Business Development

- Actively leading BD opportunities

- Engaging with prospective clients and influencers in Engine Transformation’s target marketplace

- Leading on BD strategy, bringing in leads, nurturing and qualification

- Developing new relationships with new and potential clients

- Recognising and responding to market trends

- Supporting the delivery team in expanding existing client accounts into new areas

- Maintaining and updating ET’s CRM platform with meeting reports, opportunities, and contacts

- Working with senior client decision makers to ensure our work helps deliver their ambitions

- Setting standards and embedding quality within the team

- Working with the marketing team to create materials that support awareness raising and outreach

- Supporting the building of cross-Engine Transformation relationships, opportunities and propositions

Sales & pipeline conversion 

- Successfully deliver against KPIs (Leads generated, meetings, proposals sent)

- Supporting new and existing sales through inputting into proposals and pitch presentation

- Qualification and budget development for new business opportunities

- Supporting (and leading where relevant) on contract negotiations

- Supporting account leads on expanding opportunities

Growth 

- Turning recommendations into proposed next steps for the client to take forward

- Helping drive positive change including areas where Engine Transformation could add value to wider Engine business

- Providing sales expertise to wider Engine new business efforts

- Speaking at/attending Engine Transformation events

General

- Supporting others in the team to develop their skills and experience

- Client facing role with expectation of travel to meet with clients

Essential Experience 

- Experience and understanding of selling consultancy services and solutions

- Excellent client relationship management skills

- Proven ability to scope and define project budgets

- Experience in managing CRM/Sales pipelines

- Strong client management skills and attention to detail

- Confident networker

- Experience in presenting/pitching to clients, particularly at a senior level

- Growth mentality with high levels of personal initiative

- A passion for customer-centred delivery

- Experience in commercial negotiation

- Desire to continue to improve and evolve skills and understanding in this space

- Comfortable working in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) world

Desirable Skills & Experience

- 5+ years’ experience in business development and sales

- Resilience and a can-do attitude

- A passion for mentoring others

- Awareness of Agile project management methodology

- As Engine Transformation is a digital consultancy, the role will require good insight (although not necessarily subject matter expertise) into some or all these subject areas:
